Avalokiteshvara Initiation

Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion, is the embodiment of the universal compassion of all enlightened beings. This initiation is intended to help practitioners deepen their compassion for all sentient beings.

His Eminence Jangtse Choje Rinpoche
Born in Tibet in 1934, Rinpoche was ordained as a monk at the age of seven. He entered Sera Jey monastery at seventeen and obtained his Geshe Lharampa degree in 1979. In 1985 His Holiness the Dalai Lama appointed him abbot of Gyume Tantric Monastery, a position he held for 6 years. In 2010 he was appointed to the position of Jangtse Choje, second in line for the Ganden throne holder, head of the Gelug tradition.
Rinpoche has taught extensively in Asia, North America and Europe. Aware of Rinpoche’s profound qualities and renown as a great scholar in the systems of both Sutra and Tantra, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has requested that Rinpoche maintain his permanent residence at Sera Monastery in India to serve as a principal teacher to the new generation of scholar-practitioners.
There are no prerequisites to these events; everyone is welcome to attend.
All events are free for ordained monks and nuns.
Please note that His Eminence has explicitly asked that anyone who practices Dolgyal (Shugden) should not attend his teachings and initiations.
